It is important to us to create a community where everyone feels comfortable and included. We want everyone to experience the joy of dancing, regardless of gender, age, body shape, religion, sexuality, talent, origin, skin color, etc. To ensure that everyone feels welcome, here are some recommendations for your future Zouk dance events:

Guidelines:

  1. You decide with whom and for how long you dance.
  2. You don’t have to justify your decision if you don’t want to.
  3. Respect the dance level of your partners.
  4. Respect the physical and emotional boundaries of your partners in dance as well as outside the dance floor (and don’t forget your own).
  5. Maintain adequate personal hygiene (you can almost always borrow gum or deodorant from someone in case of an emergency).
  6. Inappropriate behavior is not tolerated on or off the dance floor. If you feel attracted to your dance partner, make sure it’s mutual before proceeding.
  7. Everyone makes mistakes. Kindly point them out to others before speaking negatively about them. Perhaps they perceived it differently.

Recommendations:

  • In any dance, you can choose to dance as the leader or follower with your partner.
  • Use the dance-free time to get to know other dancers, but also respect it if someone doesn’t want contact at the moment (Point 4).
  • If you’re unsure about a situation, feel free to ask politely.
  • Ensure that you’re not dancing alone on the dance floor and be mindful of the available space.
  • Dance with various partners and include those who may not have danced much.
  • Remember that everyone started as a beginner before becoming your favorite dance partner
  • Have fun and enjoy your time.
